Being a scientific nation, Dark Arcadia has put the knowledge to use and invested a lot of it's money into BioTech. The military has made use of this and categorizes the creatures by three types:
type III: Infiltration
These are creatures that either are only mildly engineered, or resemble a pure type creature one finds in the wilds so much that they could pass as being only 'mildly mutated' to the eyes of non-biologists. Typical of this type is the complete lack of a control mechanism - these guys are as dangerous to Dark Arcadians as to anyone else. However, D.A. can use them as weapons in the way of being the only people to know how to defend themselves effectively, since, afterall, these beings were created by them and monitored closely as to their behaviour - experiments were made to find out their weaknesses, and these can be easily exploited by Dark Arcadia. Example: The silverskull butterfly, which is really a type of reptile, is type III. It was developed back in Astral America, meant originally to help fight insects, but the project was banned after the containment could no longer be guaranteed (sightings had been reported). It's spread remarkably and integrated rather well into the already existing eco system. There are - so is estimated - over 15 000 silverskulls at large. Research in Dark Arcadia is continuing on these beings and poisonous variants were and are being engineered - there are 260 regular silverskulls in containment for this purpose. The silverskull species are: Green Silverskull Butterfly (Deadly poison), Blue Silverskull Butterfly (neural poison, paralytic), Silver Silverskull Butterfly (neural poison, affects senses), 'White' Silverskull Butterfly or Silverskull Butterfly (original species). Currently, no other type III creatures exist.
type II: Assault
Best comparable to dogs, these creatures have engineered behaviour patterns they are meant to exercise, like Type III, but unlike Type III, they have had additional training to recognize friend and foe via simple signs or shapes on their clothing, sometimes by smell. These creatures are easily definable as unnatural. They are exclusively melee type of weapons, like type III, but have insanely strong bio-armour (unlike type III) to make up for this. There are 134 type II species, of each about 200.
type I: Heavy Assault
Highly specialized biotech'. These creatures are coupled with a human rider that they must grow up with. Only the rider should approach them. They form a bond to their human companion and show, of all types, the greatest will to fight to live. They have the strongest armour, and their growth speed is spectacular, not only due to engineering, but due to extra hormones given. Sometimes these creatures - often very smart by themselves already - have been given pure-technology add-ons, such as lasers, giving them long-range abilities. Still, these are best in melee combat. There are 70 species - and 236 individuals.
The first type I creature was the bloodserpent, of which there are no longer any in containment. These creatures now live in the wild and have integrated superbly into the environment, a great sign of how manmade creatures need not conflict with the original eco system. The bloodserpent was only classed as type I due to it's high intelligence and controllability, not because they were paired with humans. Bloodserpents are deep red snakes (thus the name), with sharp, shark-like scales, and the ability to 'swim' through earth. They had never been tested in combat situations, though. Ten used to be in containment, before two escaped and the project was put on ice a few months later.

creation : Dark Arcadia started in Astral America, as a rebellion of scientists against the government. It was started by people who had worked on the silverskull butterfly project, only to be fired by the government. The truth about silverskulls was revealed to the public rather swiftly this way, but the demonstrations and wordings of discomfort were often merely ignored. This 'ignoring' worked for three months, before finally the current Najesty declared the former military base a new country to Neike Satana, something which was accepted, simply because Astral America itself is a rather peaceful nation, not wishing further conflicts. Later, AA was singlehandedly won back by Fransisco Meguro with a few clever threats at the right spots.
